About Cuyutlan

The beaches of Cuyutlan are located in the beautiful Mexican Pacific, also within the Colima State territory at the center of the Armeria County, only 37 km away from Manzanillo city and less than 65 km away from Colima’s southeast, states capital. From Mexico City is one hour flight and about 9 hours drive with almost 750 km of highway.

Is worthy mentioning that Cuyutlan has offered tourist services since the end of the XIX century, therefore is one of the oldest resorts in the state and region along. Currently is an extended hotel zone linked by a strip where there are restaurants, art crafts shops, first quality services for the best welcoming to the national and foreign visitor.

One of the most important visual attractions is the so called “Green Wave”, a gigantic wave that reaches up to 8 meters high and is possible to witness it between the month of April and June. From the umbrellas next to the beach, balconies or restaurants you will be able to enjoy from a huge natural spectacle. As anyone can imagine, waves are not appropriate for everyone, swimming must be practiced carefully since is open sea, therefore is recommendable to check for life savers at the beach. Nevertheless extreme sports experts such as surfers and windsurfers as well, will find here a perfect place to challenge their skills.

You can see the tourists tanning by the beach due to the great sunshine and the tropical weather almost during all year long, you can also find young ones and adults practicing beach volleyball, or either way, enjoying from a delicious natural coconut with gin or a seafood cocktail.

Other attractions a few kilometers around the Cuyutlan beaches are the Paraiso beach, a charm for the surf and wind surf enthusiasts; Estero Palo Verde is a magnificent site of little islands with fancy shapes where herons and flamingos gather around; Miguel Alvarez del Toro turtle sanctuary (or Turtle Ecological Center), is a place dedicated to cultivate the love and the preservation for turtles and other species: Salt Museum, an antique wooden vault from the end of the XIX century, the salty pools and salt manufacturers that keep working since three centuries a go; the Cuyutlan lagoon is the most spectacular one in the entire state with 50 km of length; also the Cuyuytla town is the county head, Armeria city also offers a characteristic warmth and kindness to tourists that walk through the surroundings of this magical destination.
